Update from Queensland Health 17/6/09
There has been a recent case of Human Swine Flu (HSI) in a student associated with Jamboree Heights State School. The following recommendations are provided to assist in the prevention of the spread of the illness in the community.
1. As a precaution the school will remain closed, and re-open on Monday 22 June 2009. We ask that all children stay away from school and avoid close contact with others until this period has passed.
2. Students of the classes attended by this person are asked to remain in home isolation. The school will inform these students separately.
3. Antiviral medication is not currently recommended for people in isolation.
4. School attendees and staff should consult their doctor if they develop a flu-like illness with fever. Please call the doctor beforehand so that the practice may manage you appropriately.
5. Students and staff who have not been identified as close contacts, and who remain well do not need to do anything further other than avoiding contact with others until the school re-opens.
These recommendations are made to reduce the risk of further cases of HSI in the school.
