Students with a Disability

Special E​ducation Program

Jamboree Heights State School hosts a Special Education Program (SEP) which caters for a range of students with disabilities namely, Intellectual Impairment, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Physical Impairment, Speech-Language Impairment and Autism. Inclusive education is a common feature within all classrooms and is managed by the Head of Special Education Services (HOSES). Teacher Aides allocated to support individual students. A wonderful feature of this program is the Life Skills education provided for all students with disabilities.

Early Childhood Development Program


Jamboree Heights State School also offers support for children (birth to age five) with a Visual Impairment. This program is coordinated by some very experienced staff members and is commonly referred to as the "Earlybirds" program.

Advisory Visiting Staff

Jamboree Heights State School also accesses a range of Advisory Visiting Staff to further support our students. Specialist staff offer additional services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy. We also access external providers such as Vision Australia.

Guidance Officer

A Guidance Officer also provides additional support by way of cognitive and behavioural assessments along with referrals to external specialists. The Guidance Officer also deals with welfare issues and often liaises with the Department of Child Safety, Queensland Health and a variety of other agencies. Jamboree Heights State School has a committed group of staff titled 'Special Needs Action Committee' which exists to offer the best possible support and solutions for students with specific needs.
